London

As the capital city of England, London has much to offer visitors. Aside from parliamentary buildings and the famous clock tower known as "Big Ben," much of the architecture scattered throughout provides a stunning historical and modern mixed cityscape which can be observed from above and below. Avail of the Thames South Bank and city panoramic views that the London Eye has to offer or purchase an oyster card at a local shop and spend your time maneuvering around on the infamous underground.

Bath

Known for it's Roman-built baths and nestled in the valley of the River Avon, the Somerset city of Bath has become a major centre for tourism thanks to a multitude of cultural and sporting venues. Bathe in the naturally heated spring waters of Thermae Bath Spa after an open top bus tour or visit to the picturesque Royal Crescent, which is a row of terraced houses designed by the architect John Wood, the Younger. Many Roman archaeological sites are waiting to be explored throughout the city centre.

The Cotswolds

The area is the second largest protected landscape in the country and spans across several counties including Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire (yes, like the sauce!) Enjoy the peaceful Cotswold's with their bucolic villages of honey coloured stone, perfect for enjoying a long stroll followed by a well deserved and delicious cream tea. Considered a "gateway" of sorts to the Cotswolds, you can also pay a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and see the writer's childhood home.

The Lake District

If you are a fan of poets such as William Wordsworth or are familiar with the work of Beatrix Potter, you may have heard of England's mountainous region, The Lake District. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Lakes are located in the English county of Cumbria and contain the deepest and longest bodies of water in the country as well as England's highest mountain Scafell Pike.  Railways, ferries, footpaths and bridleways ensure that visitors can explore all that the region has to offer. It's also an ideal destination for birders!

Culture

No matter the medium, art is alive and well throughout England and the UK as a whole. From notable figures in literature and a thriving theater scene in the heart of London, you will never be short of opportunities to immerse yourself in some aspect of the culture or another.
