Wednesday 17: Depart USA for London on your overnight flight. Thursday 18: Arrive London and travel to Winchester On arrival you will be greeted and driven to Winchester where you will check into your hotel and have time to relax and freshen up before heading out to see 8 College Street, Jane’s last residence and the lovely area surrounding it. Visit Jane Austen’s grave in Winchester Cathedral. Evening welcome dinner at your hotel. Friday 19: Tour the area around Steventon & Chawton Following breakfast, we depart for a day exploring where Jane grew up and lived for most of her life. Our guide for today will be Phil Howe, a Jane Austen specialist. Visit Steventon church where Jane’s father was rector, see houses where she visited and spend time in Chawton Cottage. Walk around Chawton House , her brother Edward’s home and now the site of Chawton Libnrary for research on women’s literature. Return to Winchester for dinner. Saturday 20: Winchester to Bath via Highclere Castle After breakfast we depart for Highclere Castle, or Downton Abbey to fans. Later, travel to Swindon to see Lyme Park, the site of the exterior scenes for Pemberley in the 1995 BBC version of Pride & Prejudice. Then continue on to Bath for overnight and dinner.
Sunday 21: Bath A leisurely breakfast will be followed by a walking tour of Bath led by a local guide expert in the history of Jane’s life in Bath. The afternoon is free for exploring on your own. Evening at leisure for dinner on your own. Monday 22: Bath to Laycock Village, the Cotswold’s and Stratford - Upon - Avon After breakfast we travel to Laycock Village, a National Trust site used for the village of Meryton in the 1995 Pride & Prejudice. Then we will explore some of the small villages of the Cotswold’s as we journey to Stratford - Upon - Avon. Earl dinner at your hotel. After dinner we will enjoy Shakespeare’s All’s well that ends Well at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre . Tuesday 23: Stratford - Sudbury Hall - London We depart Stratford following breakfast and travel to Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire, the site of the interior scenes for Pemberley. Later travel south to London for overnight. Evening at leisure. Wednesday 24: London Sightseeing Tour After breakfast , we take a sightseeing tour of London including a walking tour through some of the locations that may have featured in Jane’s visits to London. The tour will include a visit to the British Library to view Jane’s writing desk and Juvenilia. Late afternoon and evening at leisure.
Thursday  25: London Free Day Breakfast at the hotel. Explore London on your own. We will provide recommendations to help you make the most of your day. This evening you have the opportunity to enjoy a concert at the BBC Proms, the premier musical event of the season. (Tickets are not available until early 2013 - cost is additional and is subject to location of seats available). Friday  26: London Departure or Extension Tour ends after breakfast - Depart from London for your return flight to the USA or option to extend at your leisure to sightsee on your own. .
